“And who knows but that you have come to your [royal] position for such a time as this?”

Esther 4:14

Is there ever a time where you feel uncertain of your position? You’re looking for the reason behind where God has placed you but the answer continues to be unclear?

Had I been in Esther’s shoes, I would’ve asked myself that question many times after having been chosen queen to the Persian Empire. I would’ve spent many a sleepless night thinking “How did I get here and what purpose does God have for me?”

As Isaiah 55:9-11 tells us, God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours. Anything He sends out will not return empty, but goes on to achieve His will. It is through our faith in those words that we become the vehicle to accomplish that will. Whether the purpose be made known to us or not, we are to embrace the position in which we’ve been placed.

God can orchestrate an entire symphony behind our calling or He can place us in the spotlight of a solo performance.

Esther was clearly in a solo performance. She was able to move on behalf of a people that were still willingly living in exile among a foreign nation and sentenced to die a horrific death. It was through her position alone that saved them from perishing.

So the next time you question your position, feel uncertain or even cheated by the place God has you, remember those words. Perhaps you have come to that position for “such a time as this…”
